Susan Hicks
not getting any younger

29th July to 10th August

Opening evening Wednesday 6th July

Once upon a time, babies were found under gooseberry bushes, women's fashions hid everything from the waist down and blushing brides had no idea what to expect. The very word 'taboo' still has sexual connotations, despite the fact that sex saturates contemporary media to the point of boredom. We have no taboos now... or do we?

There is still a subject that cannot be mentioned without risking rudeness. An attribute that we have developed an industry out of concealing. An insult. And it is something we all experience.

In this exhibition Susan Hicks has used textiles, animation, figurative sculpture, text and conceptual pieces to mount an all-out assault on our great contemporary taboo.
